I've tried a lot of different materials to use them at the mouthpiece. For me the best alternative is hotglue instead of beewax.
The advantages are clear to see:
When it's very hot in the car the hotglue keeps the shape and isn't everywhere in the furniture! You don't have all kind of stuff sticking at your mouthpiece and every time you want to play you have to shape it new after cleaning it.
For people who show an allergic reaction on beewax around the mouth it's a great difference! Hotglue is a thermoplast and gives a good stick to the lips during the playing.
